Welcome back to Day 6! Today I spent much of the day grazing on snacks and smoothies with only one traditional meal, dinner. I also put the granola into the dehydrator so that it will be ready to go tomorrow. If you want to join me with granola but don't want to make it see if you can either get a raw version either at a local raw restaurant or look for one that is marketed as paleo. They generally use a lot of nuts and avoid refined sugar so it will be kinda close to what I will be having.
I listened to a long format interview with Wholefoods Market's CEO, John Mackey this weekend on the Rich Roll Podcast. I didn't know this prior to the interview, but John Mackey has been vegan for almost 15 years. He has a new book out, The Whole Foods Diet: The Lifesaving Plan for Health and Longevity . It's co-written with 2 of the doctors featured in the documentary, Forks Over Knives. He looks at the benefits from a completely scientific approach and dispels many myths about not only vegan diets but other trendy diets in culture today. I was so impressed with what he had to say that it's in my queue to read at some point in the future. That said, here's what I ate yesterday
Wake-up Lemon Water & Meditation
Breakfast Morning Smoothie- Yesterday I had about 1/3 cup of oats instead of the almonds and 2 brazil nuts.
I snacked on 2 raw choconutty for chocolate chip cookies from Gena Hamshaw's cookbook, Choosing Raw
I had a Blueberry Spinach Superfoods Smoothie, but I used 2 cups of Olivia's Organic Saute Blend instead of the Spinach to add a variety of dark leafy greens. I also had 2 warmed organic corn tortillas with 1/2 avocado and cholula.
I then snacked on a handful of sprouted sunflower seeds, another handful of gogi berries and a couple slices of apple with almond butter.
Dinner- BBQ Tofu Salad with Brussels Sprouts & Warm Tortillas
